Former NFL player |
Eric Martin, formerly of the New England Patriots and member of the Superbowl Championship team in 2014, now spends his time and focus on cannabis activism and health and wellness. During the course of his football career, Eric sustained head injuries that would affect him for the rest of his life. Like many players, he was given opioids to deal with his pain and to keep him out on the field. As players age, they face a number of challenges – among them, the realization that the painkillers do not heal injuries but continue to mask them. Eric spends his time speaking to student athletes and adults alike on the use of cannabis for health and wellness and recovering from athletic injuries, including CTE.
Armed with knowledge, Eric and others are now calling on the NFL to change its policies towards cannabis use, assist to normalize cannabis in public forums, and reduce the stigma that keeps effective medicine from those who would benefit from its use.
